Following the launch of the Catullan Identities project (click here to browse our gallery of Catullan voices) in summer 2021, the plan for this year’s summer is a series of creative workshops that aim to bring together local queer communities in Fife, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow. In the workshops, we will look at constructions of gender in Catullus’ poetry and then explore how we, in the 21st century, relate to gender and personhood in creative ways. In comparison with the online arts project, the goal of these workshops is to shape and share narratives of queer joy by being creative and making art together.
These pieces of art will be shown on this website and will further be exhibited at an in-person launch event at the end of August (this is voluntary). There will also be an option for the artworks to be featured in a zine, compiling all pieces of art produced throughout the project.
Locations and times are yet to be confirmed. The workshops will (if Covid permits) be held in-person.
