Aves Graves by Blue Smiley

I am very excited to add this beautiful painting of Attis by Blue Smiley to our growing gallery of Catullan identities. This is what Blue shared with me:
‘the figure is based off of a statue of dionysus on display at the met. the torso and some other parts of the statue are roman from the 1st-3rd century CE, which were assembled by the flemish baroque sculptor François Duquesnoy. however, the heads of both the god and the panther are Duquesnoy’s original inventions, added on to the fragments of the roman original circa 1635.’
